Cards Galore - Take 5

Fabulous Friday! Well when you get to see these I will be on a train to Harrogate for The Great Northern Papercrafts Extravaganza. The show put on by Craftwork Cards, I love this show and just wish I got the chance to go shopping.

But I will be
taking Breakfast Workshops, demonstrating with the fabulous new range that we will be unveiling at the show and generally having a great time seeing lots of old friends and meeting new crafters. If you are coming to the show, be sure to stop by and say hello.

Card - 13

Stamped a Hero Arts stamp onto panel of card, edged with ink and tied with ribbon then layered onto card. Use scallop SU punch down edge, colour with inkpad. Stamp message (Hero Arts) then used SU punch. Glitter glued the centres of the flower.

Card - 14

Stamped a new design from SU then punched using tag punch. Colour edges with inkpad and added a ribbon. Trimed right edge of card, then punched with SU scallop punch, adding holes at every scallop using Japanese Screw Punch. Added purple strip to inside back of card (cant see this in the photo) and added 3 glittered card candy.

I love this card - really simple and so quick to make. Background is Graceful Grasses (stamp set from Craftwork Cards, back in stock soon), tie ribbon around card. Stamp new design by SU, punch out and attach over ribbon. Glitter glue background.

Opps - already posted this card earlier in the week - it was Card 5 - no guessing which is my favourite then! Sorry.

Wonderful day!

I have had the most wonderful day today and its only 5pm! Got up early went and joined the local horticultural society as Merv and I are going to grow our own veg this year. Came home unloaded the car and filled it with loads of rubbish that I sorted on Friday, quick trip to the dump and what a great job done.

Cooked sausage sandwiches for my boys and then I went off to Chicken Shack. This is a group of stampers that meet once a month at a hall near Redhill, Surrey, they used to meet with Stamping Caz but when she had to give it up they carried on meeting up.

Well Caz is back there most months again now and as I was free I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to see her, have a chat and get to do her mini Stampin Up workshop.

I know nearly everyone that goes so it was lovely to see people and what they were up to and to share some cards with them.

I made this beautiful card using the Stampin Up bits and some of the brand brand new bits that arent out until April - ordered them and cant wait to get my hands on them.

I had a wonderful couple of hours and one of the ladies, Sue lent me the stamp set that she won in the raffle and another set. Im busy making cards with them now and will post some later.

What a gorgeous vase of sunshine and all for less than £3. My Mum and great friend Sue always have flowers in their homes and I always think 'Im going to do that' and I never do - well yesterday I did - they were tight buds and look what a good drink and a sleep does for them!

Happy Mother's Day

Now I know its safe to post a picture of the card that I have made for my Mum because my Mum and computers just dont get on!

The idea for these cards came from a lovely customer called Betty Davies who transformed one of our blank die cut frames into a work of art using the Japanese Doll Choko.

Well having seen Betty's idea I thought I could make something similar but using the embossed frames and I love the result. Its a really quick and easy card to do but looks great.

I love covering the card candy centres of my flowers with glitter glue - looks like glittery brads now!
Card Candy is so clever - incase you havent been introduced - let me introduce you now. Its dome shaped pieces of pearlescent card that you attach to your card using a foam pad, silicone or glue and it looks just like a brad but you have no legs to hide - simply brilliant. Comes in lots of gorgeous colour combinations.

This is what my Mum wanted for Mother's Day - this super storage box for the card candy - littl
e did she know that my great friend Sue was going to fill all the boxes with the latest colours!

How happy is she going to be!
Got her favourite chocolates for her too and I will get some smellies tomorrow. She is coming for lunch on Sunday so Im sure she will enjoy the day.

Thank you so much

Just wanted to say thank you so much to all the really kind people that have sponsored me for my ribbon walk with Sue in June. Its really helping to keep me spurred on and to keep up with the training. Its such a great cause and I dont know anyone who has not been affected by cancer in some shape or form.

If you would like to sponsor me my sponsorship page is: www.justgiving.com/juliehickey

Huge thank you

Had a great time at the NEC showing the new goodies that Craftwork Cards have. Its lovely to show people card ideas and even better when you get sent pictures of cards that they have then made having bought all the bits and pieces.

Heres a wonderful example from a customer, Amy, that came to the NEC - bought the goodies and then made this stunning card. Thanks for sharing it with us Amy.

Sue, Rich and I were really spoilt at this show, a lovely lady and customer called Joy bought us cakes and savoury pastries that were just gorgeous and then another customer and friend, Jules bought us amazing chocolate brownies that disappeared very quickly with a coffee!

Thank you both so much for thinking of us we really appreciated it.
Jules also bought this stunning card that she had made me and inside was some sponsorship money for my Ribbon Walk. Jules did the same for Sue too, thanks Jules its really kind and very generous of you.

Sue and I were very good whilst we were at the show we went walking on Wednesday evening and Saturday evening which after a hard day at the show was very good. We walked a couple of laps of the lake at the NEC on Wednesday and then three laps on Saturday.
Since coming home I have walked everyday, but the weather and the sun being out has really spurred me on.

Off to the NEC in the morning!

Im off to the NEC, Birmingham for the Hobbycrafts show in the morning. Sue, Rich and I have to set up the stand ready for the show starting on Thursday 12th March. The show is on until Sunday 15th March and opens daily at 9:30am through to 5:30pm and 5pm on Sunday.

I will be demonstrating with our new goodies, some amazing value for money goody bags and other wonderful new card making bits!

Our stand number is A32 so be sure to stop by and say hello and treat yourself to lots of gorgeous goodies - you know you want to!

Above is a giant chipboard flower that I have decorated with all the Yummy Scrummy bits and added my name, will look great in my craft room. Why not make one as a present for someone to hang on their door?

Another chipboard giant shape, this time a train. This could be turned into a fabulous album for Ben's 4th Birthday Party recording all the celebrations of the day.

Glorious morning

I went for a gorgeous walk around Reigate Priory again today, the sky was so blue and the sun was out so I wanted to make the most of it. I walked at least 3 miles today and did 3 miles on Sunday too so Im pretty pleased with myself at the moment, just have to keep it up!

This is the view of the lake at the park, there were lots of swans, ducks and moorhens on the water.

In the park there is a junior school, what an amazing place to go to school. This was the view of the school from one of the trails I went along today. I ended up walking two laps of the park, up through the woods and around the lake twice and my trainers are not hurting at all!!

Wonderful Workshop!

Just wanted to thank all the lovely ladies, not forgetting Margaret's husband, who attended my workshop on Saturday - it was such a lovely morning and the atmosphere was brilliant. Its lovely to get emails and comments about the workshop and the cards that we made too, thank you.

A big Thank you to all the ladies that have sponsored me for the 10 mile ribbon walk too, I really appreciate it.

Im trying to sort out the hall for the next workshop and will post about it asap.
