My very first blog post as a member of Crafts U Love Design Team! How exciting!

This is my card that I want to share with you all today....

I love, love, love this Alphabet die set from Marianne its simplicity is beautiful and so useful for both male and female cards, whether the recipient is young or old - it's going to look wonderful.

I've teamed it with a gorgeous layered flower set from Creative Expressions, Layered Watercolour Blooms which I stamped using Distress Oxide ink pads in Abandoned Coral and Peeled Paint.  I embossed the centres of the flowers using WOW! Embossing Powder - Platinum which adds a gorgeous shimmer and shine to the card.

I die cut the word 'friend' from white card stock twice, one of them I coloured with abandoned coral ink, splatted with water and sprinkled platinum embossing over the water, tapped the excess off and heated to melt the powder.

I then layered each letter to a white one, off set slightly and attached across the bottom of the stamped panel.

I wiped some abandoned coral ink onto my glass mat, added some water and then splattered the background of my card, it really helped to fill in some of the white space and added some interest too.

I layered the stamped panel onto a piece of white card stock that was slightly larger and I used the abandoned coral ink pad to colour just the edges so that it matched my flowers.

I really love this card and hope that you do too.

Can't wait to share more inspiration with you very soon using wonderful crafty goodies from Crafts U Love.

WOW! Embossing Powder and Honey Bee Stamps Blog Hop!

Hi Crafting Friends
Welcome to a very special Blog Hop collaboration with the WOW! Embossing Powder & Honeybee Stamps.
The most fun part of having a blog hop is meeting, sharing and inspiring one another in this beautiful crafting community. We feel so blessed to have our paths cross with each other and we all hope this collaboration inspires you all.

If you are hopping along, you should have come from Jo Herbert
Your next stop is Lisa Cisneros
Welcome to my blog! It's my first blog hop with WOW! Embossing Powders so its very exciting! Hoping my card ideas inspire you, the gorgeous Honeybee Spring Blossoms stamps and dies are quite simply stunning and were a complete pleasure to work with. Combining them with WOW! embossing powders and Sparkles glitter was such fun!

I water coloured the flowers and leaves, cut into some of the petals and tucked my curled and shaped leaves underneath. A sentiment tag using WOW! Embossing Powders Just Saying Stamp Set and some sequins finish my card.

Up close to see the details....

Then I saw a sheet of watercolour card stock that I had coloured with shimmer powders sitting on my craft desk and I just had to stamp the beautiful Spring Blossoms in black and embossed with clear powder. I die cut a heart aperture in my card and attached the flowers, adding SPARKLES to the centres of all the flowers. Instant shimmer and shine!

Close up to see the details...

I had some stamped and embossed Spring Blooms die cut left over from my other card so added them above and below a stamped and embossed panel using WOW! Embossing Powders Just Saying stamp set.

I hope that you will now hop on over to Lisa Cisneros and enjoy her inspiration!

Hope you are well and having a great day, enjoying some of this gorgeous sunshine - most unusual for a bank holiday!

I thought I would bring you up to date with a few of the things that I've been up to recently.

I've launched a YouTube Channel where I have been uploading my Facebook Live videos, making them easier to view, especially as several people have told me they don't do Facebook. I try to include a different technique or something new that I have seen or learnt recently in each video.

So if you haven't seen them and you'd like to take a look, please head over to my channel (simply click this link and it will take you straight there).....Julie Hickey Designs on YouTube

If you like what you see, please subscribe to my channel (it doesn't cost anything - simply click the button top right in red) then when I post a new video you will know about it.  Means you won't miss anything :)

I have also recently opened an Etsy Store selling some of my handmade cards and pictures.  Again if you'd like to take a look head on over to Julie Hickey Designs on Etsy
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has visited my store and a special thank you to everyone who has bought something.  I really do appreciate it.  If you could 'favourite' my store that would be amazing!

Below are a selection of what's in my store, they were available when I published this post!  I'd love you to pay it a visit or shout about it to friends and family.

Hope we can catch up again soon, enjoy your day!

Time to reinstate my blog!

It's time to re-instate my blog - lots to share with you all and this seems like a great place to do it.

I also need my blog active as I am going to be participating in some blog hops soon - can't do that without a blog!

Might take a bit of time to get it looking like I'd like, but I'm working on it.

Hope you will be able to pop back from time and time and catch up with all thats going on.

Have a great day!

Create and Craft tomorrow!

Well my car is all packed up with lots of gorgeous new kits and fabulous samples too from Design Team members Debbie Pincher, Emma Williams, Georgina Ford, Kath Stewart and Marie Chillmaid. Oh I do hope I have not missed anyone out and I will do my best to mention you all tomorrow.

Tune in at 10am, 4pm and 7pm and if you can't be there then at least record it as I have some absolutely stunning new kits and you really will NOT want to miss them.

Just to let you know too, my revamp to the blog is under way, my lovely little Spanish friend, Paula, is working on it and it is looking lovely so far.  She is off to Spain this weekend so it will be a little while yet, but I am going to start posting some cards anyway as I really do have so many to share with you all.

I won't get around to sorting all the pictures out until after the weekend so fingers crossed I will start next week.

See you then, have a lovely weekend and I really do hope you can join me tomorrow sometime!

Revamp time!

Ok so it is ages since I blogged last, no excuses I have just not had the time.

Sharing some of my card photo's today at a workshop it dawned on me that I have so many card pictures that I could share with everyone, it really is a waste them just being on my iPad.

So I have made a decision I am going to revamp my blog, give it a new look and start to post again very soon. I would love to say it will be on a regular basis but I won't promise let's just see how I do, but I will need something from you for me to do this ....

I need you to leave me a comment so that I know you are seeing the posts, the comments are what makes all the hard work of posting regularly worth it.

So give me a while, I have to work out how to change images and things, maybe I will even invest in getting a blog page designed specially as there are some gorgeous looking blogs out there and I would like a fancy looking one too!

Then we will be up and running again sharing card making ideas, some tutorials and some home decor projects too so I hope you will continue to join me.

See you soon

Blog Hopping!

Thanks to Theresa for kicking off our Create a Wreath Blog Hop between our USA blog and our UK blog.

Over the next week you are going to see inspiration from both sides of the pond!  Each day we will feature 2 USA Design Team members and 2 Design Team members from the UK, hopping between each blog.

Leave a comment on the blog posts and you will be in with a chance of winning a Create a Wreath kit just for you!  Each day the USA Design Team members will pick a winner and the UK Design Team members will pick a winner - so everyone in the USA has 2 chances and everyone in the UK has 2 chances to win each day!

At the end of the week Theresa will pick a winner from all the USA comments left and I will pick a winner from all the UK comments left and they will receive one of each of the Create a Wreath Kits!

So if you have not seen our Create a Wreath Kits before, there are 6 different ones to choose from ....

The kits contain enough elements to make 2 wreaths, everything is die cut so no cutting out, you just have to add the glue and some scissors to cut the ribbon.  Simply cover the chipboard rings or hearts with the die cut paper, add the ribbon ties, curl and shape the petals and layer the flowers together.  Attach them to the ring or heart and you are finished and this is what they will look like ...

You can get as creative as you want with the Create a Wreath kits, why not use them with a Candle in the centre, they will look fabulous as a centre piece on your table.

Use the flowers on cards too ...
So be sure to join us for the rest of the week and see what both Design Teams make with our Create a Wreath kits.

If you are in the UK and want to buy a Create a Wreath kit they are available from craft shops on on-line here.

If you would like the chance to win a Create a Wreath kit don't forget to leave a comment on this blog post and each day we will randomly choose a winner and a lovely Create A Wreath Kit will be on its way to you!

Now you need to hop over to the USA Blog and see what Sherri has made!

Enjoy the blog hop!
