Saturday 6th June

Next Saturday, 6th June, I will be at The Craft Barn's June Extravaganza Weekend, but just on the Saturday.

I will be demonstrating using all the gorgeous Craftwork Cards goodies which The Craft Barn stock, especially the new Sorbet Souffle collection.

There will be 19 demonstrations to watch! WOW thats a lot.

Be sure to stop and say hello and hope to see lots of you there.

Cards!

Below is one of the cards we made last weekend at my Workshop in Leeds. I have mixed the Kraft Collection papers with the lovely soft pastel Richie Wraps and created a card from them. Cut around the butterflies and lift the wings before attaching the paper. You cant really see in the photo but I have coloured the border strips of Kraft paper with glitter gel pens and sprinkled some daisies over the card too!

There are lots of Workshops on-line at Craftwork Cards ready to book now featuring lots of different ideas - Kathy and Lynda are doing a Beat the Clock - a fab class where you make 10 cards in 2 and a half hours! Mary is teaching a box class and her boxes are just gorgeous, Sue has a couple of workshops too and she has fabulous card ideas and I also have a Butterfly and Blooms class - two of my favourite items to use on a card. Click here to see the full list and book your seat!

For my ladies down South I will sort out a date for a Horley workshop next week and get it on-line - I will post about it here too.

Look whats arrived!

This arrived in the post today! Well its not long now until the 20th June when Sue and I will walk 10 miles for Breast Cancer Care on our Ribbon Walk at Harewood House.

Its really exciting to have the t-shirt to wear and an official number - how cool is that!

I would like to thank everyone who has sponsored me for the walk and to all the ladies at my Horley workshops who have put £'s in my pot - this is still to be added to my total on my justgiving page.

If you would like to sponsor Sue or myself, these are our justgiving pages SUE and JULIE - its really easy to do using a dedit card to make a donation. Its such a great cause.

Just about everyone I know has been touched in some way by Cancer. I lost my Dad, father-in-law and cousin, Sue, to cancer. Many friends have had cancer and fought it, some have not been so lucky. I have a friend, Sam, who is currently having treatment to be sure that all her cancer has gone so she can get on enjoying her life with her hubby and son. My Mum and I also have a friend that has very recently found out she has breast cancer, she has had an op and now faces weeks of chemo and then radio therapy but she is doing amazing well. This walk is for all those people.

Off for a long walk in the morning with Merv, probably to the beach and then for breakfast!

Thank you again.

Time flies when you are having fun!

Well I must be having so much fun because the time is just flying by! I have had a workshop at The Glitter Pot that was really lovely even though the ladies didnt get to finish all the cards. I obviously didnt work you all hard enough! Glad you all loved the cards though.

Here's a couple of the cards that we made.

Then I was demonstrating and doing Make and Takes at The South Stamp Show in Worthing on the Saturday. It was very busy and lots of people had a go at the Make and Takes and we raised £35 to go towards our Breast Cancer Care Ribbon Walk that Sue and I are doing on 20th June.

If you want to sponsor either of us you can, just go to: justgiving.com/sue-taylor or justgiving.com/juliehickey. We would both really appreciate it and its going to a wonderful cause.

Monday saw me back down to Worthing to attend a Retailers Day with Paula at Delish Designs. We had a fabulous day with Debs and Gloria, my head was spinning with ideas when I left.

Been busy getting ready to go to Leeds tomorrow for a Workshop on Saturday, it will be so lovely to see the ladies up there again, its been so long.

I wanted to post pictures of my veggies, I cant believe just how much everything has grown probably due to the lovely rain they had over the weekend. I have even had my first crop of radishes and they taste wonderful! I will post some pictures next week.

Must go now off to Karate, well Im off to sit on the bench and read a magazine, Owen is off to actually do Karate!

Happy Birthday Sonya

I have been busy making a present for Sonya who works at Craftwork Cards in Leeds as today is her Birthday.

I saw this gorgeous bird house on Nicole's blog, nicholeheady.typepad.com, and just had to make one.

In fact I actually made 2 one for Sonya (pink and brown) and one for my wonderful friend, Sue (blue and brown). They are filled with my favourite chocolates, Lindor's which I know Sue loves and I hope Sonya will too!

I also made this card for Sonya using one of the embossed frames and coloured it with the glitter gel pens, applied with a wet paintbrush. It gives such a delicate effect but retains the spark
le from the glitter pens - I love it. When I took the picture of the card I had not coloured the bird but I did before I sent it.

Have a great Birthday Sonya!

Beautiful Blue Bells

Went to Reigate Priory today for the first time in ages. I have been walking but a circuit close to home as it takes half and hour to get to Reigate Priory on top of how long I walk for.

But boy am I glad I did go as the Blue Bells were quite simply beautiful. The woods were just a solid blue carpet.

I took some pictures to share with you but you really cant appreciate the amount of blue bells that were there.
I only walked a couple of miles today but it was so lovely to be out in the sunshine and everything was very green and lush.

This is beside the lake, managed a picture with no one in it even though its a really popular place and there are always lots of walkers, joggers and Mums with prams.

Im off to Worthing on Saturday 16th for the South Stamp Show at the Charmandean Centre with Sue and Richard so there will be lots of gorgeous Craftwork Cards goodies to buy! Be sure to come and see the new Sorbet Souffle range which is just gorgeous.

I have been busy making a card and pressie for Sonya who works at Leeds as its her Birthday on Wednesday - I will post pictures of what I made then - Im so so pleased with it!

Creative with Carla

My niece Carla came to stay Thursday evening until Saturday so that we could design her wedding invitations and other wedding stationery.

It was so really good to spend some time with her, she is such a lovely person and so eager to learn. We did so well and achieved so much, we designed the cards, stamped all the envelopes, made her family engagement party invites and envelopes, made elements for her thank you cards, sorted out what to do for the placecards and Im going to make her chocolate bar wrappers for all her wedding guests.

All I have to do now is place an order with Craftwork Cards for all the cardstock etc, then Carla is coming back so that we can make them together.

On Sunday Merv and I got up at 6am went down to Brighton and walked to Hove and back, which was about 5.25 miles and we rewarded ourselves with breakfast in a cafe on the seafront. We were back home by 9:30am!

Spent some of the day watching World Superbikes motobike racing, ironing, reading and watering my veg - wow is all I can say about my veg! They are all doing so well, growing and everything looks really healthy and happy! Im surprised at how easy it has all been so far and cant wait to taste some of it. We finished the day off by going out to dinner with the boys which was really nice as we dont often go out all together anymore.

The Master returns!

What a great day of racing yesterday and 'the master' Valentino won - just brilliant!

Never seen such amazing racing in the 125 class with Bradley Smith winning for Britian. The 250's was so exciting fighting for the front places and swapping so much.

Then the Moto GP was great and Vale had to work hard to catch up Pedrosa but he did it like no one else can. Oh and what a shame that Jorez fell off - especially for my little Spanish friend Paula - who always takes such delight in phoning me when a Spanish rider wins! She did phone today though to say well done to Vale.
Poor JT though he is still not riding like we know he can - 14th and he will not be happy about that. I hope he gets sorted soon as he only has this year to prove himself and then he could be out.

Had a great day at The Glitter Pot on Saturday showing the new Sorbet Souffle and embellishments and the Kraft Collection of papers. Everyone thought they were goregous. I was in the workshop room demoing with Francoise Read and Jane Gill so we had a lovely time catching up too. Also got to meet Claire Curd who is really lovely and off to Australia very soon, good luck with that Claire. Caz was there doing her magic with coloured pencils on the Penny Black stamps, Kay Carly was also colouring Penny Black flower designs and they were stunning. Paula was working her magic on the Cuttlebug - I own one and didnt know what gorgeous things it can do - she is very clever at getting the most out of products.

All in all it was a lovely day, busy in the shop and lovely to see so many people interested in crafts.

Went to a wedding reception in the evening of someone I used to work with and have known for 25 years, Suzanne. Its lovely to see her happy again with her new husband David and it was incredible to see how much Jack, her son and Owen had grown - they last saw each other when they were about 6 when Suzanne and Jack moved down to Selsey.

Enjoy the bank holiday - off to watch British Superbikes now! Will post some cards soon.

Left overs!

This lovely card has been made with the left overs from the workshop on Saturday. It was made by Lynn Cooper and she really has used left overs!

The butterfly sheet layered onto the card over the scraps of spotty papers, is actually the sheet that the die cut butterflies have come out of, the waste, the bit that gets thrown away! Oh how silly of me, it doesnt get thrown away if you're a crafter!

Lynn thanks for sharing this lovely card idea with us - I wont be throwing the empty butterfly sheets away anymore!
